Home Exhibitions Boom on Back of TV Popularity

Home shows and exhibitions can be a great place to gather ideas and expert advice and purchase essential equipment. The number of these exhibitions has boomed in recent years, a trend buoyed by the strong ratings for renovation shows on TV. Better Homes and Gardens, The Block and Grand Designs have all created spin-off “live” exhibitions in response to viewer demand to interact with their favourite home improvement stars and to come together to discuss their shared passion.

The exhibitions not only allow attendees to get up close and personal with TV celebrities -- including gardeners and chefs -- but it also offers the opportunity to visualise changes to their home and buy things they might not find in the average decorating or hardware store. The trend for renovation is sometimes attributed to the relatively high cost of home purchases, with people preferring to reinvent what they already have rather than spend a fortune on a new home and commit to a new home loan.
