Rebate Scheme Changes Equal More Cash for Homebuyers
Eligible homebuyers purchasing house-and-land-packages at particular estates in Hervey Bay are able to access a $12,000 rebate thanks to changes to a cashback scheme offered by the Fraser Coast Regional Council.
This rebate is part of the Hervey Bay Housing Affordability Project and will be given to homebuyers purchasing properties in new developments that are reached by 5 new major road projects. Gerard O’Connell, Mayor of the Council, explained that the previous rebate of $10,000 for 700 home owners was being increased to $12,000 for a further 583 homebuyers.
The project is a partnership between the council and the Federal Government and will ease some of the financial pressures that come with securing a home loan and investing in a property.
A $12 million grant was awarded to the council for the purposes of funding the project and providing roadworks to the value of $24 million and homebuyer rebates to the value of $7 million, with the ultimate aim of making housing and home ownership more affordable.
