7 Ways to Prepare Your Home For Guests

So you’re having guests stay in just a few days but your home is in disarray. It’s embarrassing to let your guests in and see the clutter and the unprepared guest room. To make your home ready for your guests, here’s a simple house guest checklist to help you out.

Clean your house

Of course, you need to clean your house before the arrival of your guests. This is an imperative first step. Make sure that everything is in order, not just the room your guests are staying in but also the living room, the bathroom, and kitchen.

Get the guest room ready

Your guests might feel they are inconveniencing you if they see you preparing the guest bedroom at the last minute. To avoid this, make sure that everything is in order before they arrive. Provide fresh and clean bedsheets, lots of pillows, and an extra throw blanket just in case they get cold.

Give them privacy

Even if you don't have a guest room, it is important to give your guests privacy. Provide curtains or blinds on the windows so they feel safe. If your guest is sleeping in the living room, provide a wall divider.

Make room in the closet

Is there a closet in the guest room? Make sure that there are no clothes or unused Christmas decorations inside. Make room in the closet for your guest’s clothes. They will surely need space to hang their dress or suit jacket.

Prepare bathroom essentials

If the guest room has its own bathroom, stock it neatly with bathroom essentials such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste, bath towels, face towels, and toilet paper. Your guests will be pleasantly surprised at how much preparation you put into the bathroom toiletries for their visit.

Plan the meals

Are your visitors vegetarians? Are they allergic to certain foods? Or to dairy products? Be sure to know their food preferences, so you can prepare a menu that’s tailored to your guests that they will truly enjoy.

Give them a tour around the house

Let your guests know where things are around the house, so they’ll be familiar with your place. Give them important information such as your mobile phone number, complete address, and landline. This can come in handy in case of an emergency.

If you follow this guest room checklist, preparing your home for guests will be simple.
