Affordable Ways to Upgrade Your Laundry Room

Affordable Ways to Upgrade Your Laundry Room

Nobody likes doing piles of laundry. It is a tedious task that you wish you didn’t have to do. A disorganised laundry makes the process even worse! Here are some clever tips on affordable ways to upgrade your laundry.

Add storage

Your main aim should be to keep your laundry room and workspace as tidy as possible with the least amount of maintenance. You can maximise your space by doing one or more of the following:

  • Add a counter top
  • Add a cabinet or shelving below or above the washer/dryer
  • Add a hanging rod for clothes
  • Stack your washer and dryer

Whatever storage space you choose to use, make sure you label it to make it easier to find what you need.

A folding station

You can improve the layout of your laundry by adding a table over the top of your washer dryer to create a folding station. This will kill two birds with one stone because you can also use this station for storage.

Paint

Doing the laundry is bad enough let alone doing it in a dingy room with paint peeling off the walls! Choose a comforting and soothing colour such as spa blue or mint green. Choose a colour that sends you into relax mode as soon as you walk into the room.

Hide your supplies

There is no need to have washing detergent and conditioner scattered all over the laundry room, put them away! It’s a good idea to give everything a space of its own; this will make things quick and easy when it comes to clean up time.

Ironing station

You can’t escape the ironing so you may as well make it as fun as possible. Get a decorative ironing board cover; choose a nice print that’s easy on the eyes because you are going to spend a lot of time looking at it! Create a space that’s for ironing only and make sure you hang the iron directly over the ironing board to make the process smoother.

Decorate

Add some color, patterns and personality to your laundry room. Conceal any unsightly utility structures with a nice curtain. You can also bring in some furniture like a good wall dresser and transform it into storage space. You can also include framed artwork, mason jars, and a photo board to add some finishing touches.
