House-hunters record rates in October
Record numbers of Australians are shopping for houses online – and most of them are using Google to compare rates and properties.
About 3.6 million Google searches for home loans were expected in the month of October.
And people were buying too, with the highest number of home loan settlements expected since a record 62,000 purchases during global financial crisis of 2007.
Finder.com.au said the results showed that internet traffic was a powerful shopping tool, but also helpful in predicting customers behaviour.
It reported that 2.21% of all Google searches resulted in loans about three months later.
The current trend of home loan and property searches meant that summer would be a big season for house-hunters.
