Fake Receipt Scams
Be Cautious When Buying Cars Online
Scams may involve fake payment receipts, in private car sales arranged through online marketplaces. These scams often target individuals selling vehicles and may also involve offers of car loans or finance options.
Scammers may present a digital or printed receipt as proof of payment to collect the vehicle, claiming the funds have been transferred to your account.
Be cautious - These receipts can be easily manipulated to look legitimate. Your only reliable confirmation of payment is by logging into your online banking or app and verifying that the funds have actually been received.
If you cannot confirm the money is in your account, and the buyer insists they’ve paid, do not release the vehicle. If the payment is delayed or pending, wait until the deposit is fully cleared.
Important:
Be wary of buyers offering finance through unfamiliar sources or claiming to have arranged a loan through loans.com.au without proper documentation.
Always verify any loan or payment details directly with loans.com.au or your financial institution.

Email Scams
Stay Vigilant
Scam emails are circulating with varying subject lines, often referencing security upgrades or new features related to your loan or banking services. These emails typically ask you to click a link to update settings, activate enhancements, or secure your account.
Important - Legitimate online financial services will never ask you to click a link in an email or SMS to access new security features or verify your account.
Be cautious - These links often lead to phishing websites designed to steal your personal and financial information. Always access your online accounts via official channels such as an app.
Remember - If you receive an email, SMS, phone call, or other communication that seems suspicious or potentially fraudulent, report it to us before deleting it from your inbox or device.

Email Scams
Google Pay & Apple Pay Users, Stay Alert
Be cautious of emails impersonating trusted payment platforms, claiming that a transaction has been charged to your account. These emails often include alarming subject lines (e.g. #!TRANSICTION!#) and urge you to call a phone number provided in the message to dispute or reverse the charge.
Be cautious - The phone number listed is often not associated with the legitimate provider. Scammers use impersonation tactics to trick you into believing the message is genuine.
Important:
Never give remote access to your device.
If you notice your mouse moving on its own or apps opening without your input, someone may be controlling your device.
Do not log into your online banking or share security codes if this occurs.
Always verify transactions by checking your Google Pay or Apple Pay activity directly through the official app or website. If you're unsure, contact loans.com.au using verified contact details.
Remember: If you receive an email, SMS, phone call or other communication that seems suspicious or potentially fraudulent, report it to us before deleting it from your inbox or device.
