However, the median value of houses in these suburbs is around $400,000 less than the Queensland average of $971,100.

Most affordable suburbs in Regional Australia for houses 

When compared to houses in capital cities, Regional Australia has by far the most affordable properties. All properties on the list below don’t reach $200,000, with the most affordable suburb, Coober Pedy, having a median value of only $80,822.

Most of the suburbs on the list can be found in Regional Western Australia. This could be a good place to live for those who want a more relaxed and laid-back lifestyle, as it’s far from the hustle and bustle of the city.  

Although the low price of these properties may sound enticing, most of these suburbs are located in the more remote areas of the state, meaning farther away from amenities, schools, and employment opportunities.

The price difference between affordable houses and units in Regional Australia may be due to the availability of units. Unlike houses, which are available in more rural areas, units may be more common in more urban locales, hence being more expensive.
