Emmanuel City Mission was established in 2009 and has since opened its doors daily to offer meals, shower facilities, clothing, medical care and a safe space for the homeless and vulnerable. Their mission is to connect them with those who care while decreasing loneliness. Their work truly brings hope and healing to the lives of people who need it most.
Nine of our staff members had the opportunity to volunteer at Emmanuel City Mission’s office in South Brisbane. They helped prepare and serve meals to Brisbane’s homeless and vulnerable community. The team assisted with every part of the lunch service from chopping fresh ingredients, plating meals, and handing them out with care.
Kate, one of our volunteers, said: “It was lovely to be able to assist such an incredible organisation. They provide such an essential service to so many, and they do so without government help, relying entirely on their own fundraising. The amount of work and care the organisers and workers do is truly outstanding.”
